How do I specify pendant lights for commercial interiors?

Fix the ceiling height and the visual focus first, then colour temperature, colour rendering, glare control and suspension type, treating aesthetics and maintainability as one budget.

1. Ceiling height and suspension

In restaurants and retail below 3 m ceilings the pendant bottom usually sits 2.0 to 2.3 m above the floor, which avoids head strikes without losing illuminance.

Atriums and double-height lobbies need long stems or a liftable suspension so lamps can be changed and cleaned later.

2. Colour temperature and rendering

Commercial interiors mostly run 3000 K warm white, and apparel or food displays want a colour rendering index of 90 or above so materials and skin tones stay true.

Keep one colour temperature per space, because mixing 3000 K and 4000 K makes the whole view look dirty.

3. Glare control and private label

Deep recessing or a honeycomb louvre cuts glare but also cuts output, so balance it against the viewer eye height.

Private label projects can follow your housing and packaging design, with structure and any certification requirements confirmed in the quotation.

If you are fitting out a hotel, restaurant or retail project, send space photos and ceiling height on WhatsApp and Xingguang will propose a pendant layout.
