How do I choose LED grow lights for indoor farming?

Start from the crop and the tier height, size the daily light integral from PPFD and photoperiod, and only then decide spectrum, thermal design and IP rating.

1. Light dose before wattage

Crops respond to the PPFD reaching the canopy and to how many hours a day it runs, where DLI equals PPFD times seconds divided by one million.

Leafy greens and seedlings usually sit at 8 to 14 mol per square metre per day, fruiting crops need more, and the exact target follows variety and growth stage.

2. Spectrum and thermal design

A full white spectrum makes visual inspection easy while a red and blue ratio can be more efficient at specific stages, so the trade-off follows the crop plan.

Lifetime at high power is decided by thermal design, and a die-cast heat sink with active airflow holds up better in continuous operation than a plain extrusion.

3. Humidity and custom build

Greenhouses and vertical farms run humid, so fixtures should be at least IP65, and overhead irrigation zones are better at IP66 with corrosion protection.

Grow lights can be built to your spectrum and wattage parameters under private label, with the final configuration confirmed in the quotation.

Send your crop, tier height and growing area on WhatsApp and Xingguang will turn the light dose into a fixture count.
